E-liquid (also known as vape juice) is the liquid used in conjunction with electronic cigarettes, which is vaporized by the e-cigarette to produce aerosol for inhalation. Common components of e-liquid include propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), flavorings, nicotine, additives, and others.
The 5 Criteria for Judging the Quality of E-liquid:
The quality of e-liquid for electronic cigarettes is related to three main aspects:
- Solvent requirements are food-grade or pharmaceutical-grade;
- Nicotine content requires a purity of over 98%, ideally 99%;
- High-quality e-liquid extracts.
The identification of good or bad e-liquid mainly depends on the following points:
1, Sight
Visually, e-liquid is generally colorless or pale yellow when it does not contain nicotine. If some dark-colored extracts are added, there will be corresponding colors. If it contains nicotine or too many natural extracts, the color stability is compromised. It might change color after a day or two or exposure to sunlight. Fruit flavors are even less stable, while tobacco and mint flavors are generally best in pale yellow or golden yellow.
2, Smell
Upon smelling, the first impression should not be unpleasant. You may not like the scent, but it should not be off-putting. Good e-liquid has a pleasant and full aroma, with a lingering fragrance that is appealing.
3, Selection
Choose based on vapor production. Vapor production is not only related to the quality of the atomizer but also to the e-liquid. Generally, e-liquids with high vapor production are better than those with lower production. It should be effortless to draw and the vapor should be fine and smooth, moistening the mouth. Any burnt taste might be related to the e-liquid, but it’s more likely related to the atomizer.
4, Vape
The most important aspect is the “vape.” Good e-liquid has a stable flavor, a comfortable and full aroma, without irritation or spiciness. The taste difference between inhaling and exhaling should not be significant. Generally, the taste of vapor in the mouth should dissipate within three to five minutes after exhaling.
5, Feel
The feeling refers to the sensation in the mouth after inhaling. Many people experience dryness in the mouth and throat after vaping, which is normal to some extent. However, if it’s excessively dry, it’s not right. It’s recommended to take a break if experiencing excessive dryness. This is because PG and VG have hygroscopic properties, but excessive dryness is abnormal.
